Owner of check cashing business shot and killed during robbery, police say
Police say the owner of the “Any Check Cashed” was shot and killed during a robbery in the city’s Ogontz neighborhood.
PHILADELPHIA – A 67-year old business owner was shot and killed during a robbery Tuesday afternoon in Philadelphia’s Ogontz neighborhood as the gun violence epidemic continues to rage.
Police say the owner of the “Any Check Cashed” store was followed into her store by a man around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday along the 5800 block of Old York Road.
“She’s followed by a male who forces her in past the security door then forces her into the office where there is a violent struggle between the two and that’s when the perpetrator fires a shot, striking her in the chest,” said Chief Inspector Scott Small.
