GRANDVILLE, MI — A family-owned business in Grandville is planning to be able to at least double its production capacity by next summer with a large building expansion.
Harbor Foam, at 2950 Prairie St. SW, has broken ground on a nearly 71,000-square-foot expansion to its current building.
“We’re seeing growth and we predict in the future that we can’t accommodate that growth,” said John Kuperus, building manager at Harbor Foam. “We’re at max capacity, we just can’t produce enough foam.”
The company produces shape-molded foam for packaging, construction foam for roofing and insulation, RVs, and geofoam, which is used as a frost protectant and soil replacement in road construction, retaining walls and bridges.
Harbor Foam currently employs around 40 people. After the expansion, the company plans to add another 10 employees.
